Lesson Rates
3-hour Private Kiteboarding lessons $285
You will learn much faster in a private lesson then a group, because your lesson will be tailored to your needs and style of learning and you can safely use a larger kite when under direct supervision of an experienced instructor. If you would like to learn at the same time as your friend and are sharing a ride, we can run two private lessons one after the other. This gives you the best value for your money and the fastest and safest path to your goals.
Combo Lesson $530 total ($265 per student)
You can bring a friend or family member and save $20.00 each and some gas by sharing the 1-hour of classroom time and the drive to Hood River. After the shared classroom hour each student gets a 2-hour private kiteboard lesson on the water. The other student will have 2 hours to go into town or hang out at the beach while I work with the student in the water.
(Please book two consecutive time slots when reserving a combo lesson.)
3-hour Buddy Kiteboarding Lessons $450 total (Two students)
Advanced students only
In a buddy lesson two friends share one instructor. This works well in the Advanced Kiteboard Series because as the instructor helps one student the other can continue to kiteboard and stay out of trouble for a few minutes; this is not the case with beginners. I strongly recommend that you enjoy the increased safety and faster learning curve of private lessons for the on-the-water portions of the Beginner Kiteboard Series and the Intermediate Kiteboard Series.
Family or Team Kiteboarding Days 9:00 am - 7:00 pm $950 total
(The charge will be pro-rated if the wind is not blowing part of the day)
You can book me full time to work with up to 4 students over a 5-day to 14-day period. We can break up the lesson times to accommodate wind changes and skill levels and generally make it up as we go along. Everyone gets something a little different and learns at their own speed. We can combine classroom time or split up where appropriate. The on-the-water portion of beginner and intermediate lessons will be private. Advanced lessons can have multiple students. Each student will work with me for a few hours each day. This is normally enough to wear out beginners. Experienced kiteboarders can kiteboard on their own before or after the lesson if they bring equipment. (I have a limited amount of equipment and cannot use it to conduct lessons and loan it out at the same time.)
A note on the rates
My rates reflect the cost of providing you the best service in the industry.
I am the most experienced instructor in the North West and teach every Gorge Kiteboarding School lesson providing the highest quality instruction and equipment for your lessons. The lessons are cost affective because I focus on spending your time productively. My students gain a higher level of control over the kite. These skills lead to years of safe and enjoyable kiteboarding. I am certified by the Professional Air Sports Association, Registered with the State of Oregon, licensed by the Town of Hood River, permitted by the Port of Hood River, and insured by Lloyds of London.
A Note on big groups
Big group lessons lead to a big group of frustrated students.
Learning to kiteboarding takes more then casual instruction and a few minutes of time with a kite in your hands. With a large group sharing kites and the instructor you will spend very little time with the kite in the air, your time will be mostly spent watching others and learning to get the kite out of the water. Group lessons will double the number of lessons you will need to learn to kiteboard safely and drastically increase the frustrations of the sport.
